Day 2 SOL 2017 day 2 of retirement

Day two of retirement - I exercised, walked the dog, did laundry, painted a picture, took the car to get an oil change, cooked dinner, did dishes, and attended the women's club. It doesn't seem that I accomplished anything. At work, I gauged my progress by checking items off a list of tasks. I don't want to feel as though I am wasting any day. Ok, maybe I need to create a list of things I'd like to complete. We are planning to clean one shed on day 3.That will be one huge accomplishment I can enjoy.

  1. Your day sounds great to me (can I quietly admit that I've begun to dream of retirement?!). Something my sister recently introduced me to is Habitica.com, a way to set up to-do lists and daily and habitual tasks that let's you see your productivity in a fun way. We're using it to hold each other accountable for goals we're working toward. Might be fun to try.

  2. Welcome to retirement. It is harder than you expect, but easier to manage if you can let yourself relax into it. I'd say you have accomplished quite a bit. There are the chores (laundry, washing dishes, getting the car oil changed), but some of what might be chores (exercise, walking the dog, cooking) can be enjoyed for their own sake. And painting a picture and attending the women's club seem pure fun to me. So you haven't wasted this day. And if it helps to make a check list, go for it.

  3. Once, I had to be on a Medical Leave and I felt the same as you. However, when anothre medical leave came again, I had no choice than to learn to rest without feeling guilty and not feeling that days are sooooo long and pointless when I am not at work.

    I loved to feel related to your feeling. I hope your days feel great always!
